A loan helped To increase her store’s inventory.
This Kiva borrower is a 43-year old married woman from Lebanon. She lives with her husband and child. All three household members are working. She has been running a “mini-market” for 22 years. These markets are found in every neighborhood and village in Lebanon. Her husband owns a shop for toys and gifts. She notes that, although she has been working very hard, her profits are still not as high as she would like. She is requesting a loan of $1000 from Kiva partner, Ameen s.a.l, which she plans to use to increase her store’s inventory. This will be her first loan from Ameen. The loan officer notes that she has an excellent reputation in her community. Note: Based on the political and social challenges of Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes of this entrepreneur have been altered to protect him or her (i.e. blacking out portions of the entrepreneur in his/her picture, not indicating his/her name and location, etc.). Ameen s.a.l. appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages lenders to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers. Ameen has been able to use its interest-free loan from Kiva to offer lower interest loans with faster disbursement for their micro-loan borrowers. Since its inception, Ameen has provided high quality financial services to over 41,000 borrowers and disbursed over 81,000 loans totaling US$115 million.
