A loan helped to buy eyeglass frames, contact lenses, and perform equipment maintenance.

Maria Dolores's story

Maria Dolores is in a civil union and has a minor-aged child. Her partner works in a private business. They live in their own home in Portoviejo. Portoviejo was impacted by the April 16, 2016 earthquake and now by the Covid-19 pandemic. The city is rich in the production of crops, vegetables, and tropical fruits for national consumption.

Previously, Maria Dolores worked selling various products such as clothing for children and adults but today she has an optical shop in a rented location and sells eyeglass frames, contact lenses, does visual exams, prescription lenses, and works Monday through Saturday. At the beginning the health crisis was very bad as she couldn't sell; but now, little by little, she is reactivating and thus is able to continue generating income. An aunt in her family contracted Covid-19 but is recuperating little by little.

With this loan she will buy eyeglass frames, contact lenses, and perform equipment maintenance. Her dream is to have the largest ophthalmology center.
