Wakilary Demou Group's story

Madame SIRA is fifty-two years old. She is presides over the WAKILARY DEMOU group, which means AGREEMENT. She has been involved in breeding for ten years. She is married to a farmer and they have three children, all of whom are in school. She lives in TAMBACOUNDA, a region of Senegal, where she carries on her business along with the other members of the group.

This loan is intended for all eight members of the group to develop their breeding business. Madame SIRA is uneducated. She is a female worker who aspires to expand her flock and increase her profits to that she can help her husband better take care of the their children's education expenses, food, health, etc. She buys her animals at the weekly markets.

After raising her sheep she sells them at the byways in the marketplaces at prices that benefit her bottom line. By so doing she is able to meet all of her expenses.

At times she has to deal with the theft of her cattle as well as difficulties finding the means to vaccinate her animals against sicknesses. These can present obstacles to achieving her goals.
