05_Mariama Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy peanut and maize seeds to cultivate her field.

05_Mariama Group's story

This group of eight women was set up in June 2018. The women live in the same village and are connected through familial and friendship ties. They have a good social bond and all work in agriculture. The group is on their third loan.

Mariama is 58 years old and the group's representative. She is married and has five children, three of whom are girls. The other group members are not in the photo in order to respect social distancing. She grows maize and peanuts, as do many of the women in the village.

With this loan she plans to buy peanut and maize seeds and fertiliser to cultivate her land. After the harvest, she will sell the crops at the local market for a good price in order to hopefully obtain a better income.

The profits from this loan will go towards the family's daily expenses and ensuring the health of her children.
