Alinafe's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more cups and plates for her tea room, as well as acquire maize to sell.

Alinafe's story

Alinafe is a 23-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents in the Phalombe district of Malawi. She runs a tea room as her business. With her first Kiva loan, Alinafe purchased tables and chairs for her tea room. She used the profit she earned to support needy students in her community with basic school materials for their classes.

Alinafe is requesting a second Kiva loan in order to buy more cups and plates, as well as to diversify her business by also purchasing and selling maize. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her parents with basic household needs and to expand her business further. Alinafe will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide. Her duties will include following up on students who are at risk of dropping out of school, finding out why they are missing school, and connecting them with the help they need to stay in school.
