A loan helped to purchase rice, oil, Maggi, fish, chicken, flour, pepper and other assorted items to increase her business.

Humu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 30-year-old Humu from Wilberforce branch. She is a single woman with two children between the ages of 7 and 12. Both of her children are still attending school. She started her business to support herself and her children.

Humu runs a Retail Food Business and sells bread, Fry-fry and other assorted items. She has been in this business for 5 years. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during the COVID 19.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase rice, oil, Maggi, fish, chicken, flour, pepper and other assorted items to increase her business. Humu says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family. In the future, she would like to establish it on a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
