Belen's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped buy assorted groceries for their store, fishing net and rope, paint, and an engine for their fishing boat.

Belen's story

Belen is from Concepcion, Iloilo. She is married and a mother of four children. To earn an income, she runs a sari-sari (variety) store selling basic commodities. She has been in this business for many years. Meanwhile, her husband works as a fisherman to provide their family’s needs.

Now, she asks for a loan of 30,000 PHP through Kiva’s field partner CEV (a microfinance NGO) in the Philippines which she will use to buy fishing net and rope, paint, and an engine for their fishing boat. The rest of the loan will be used to buy assorted groceries for their store.

Belen wants to augment their livelihood in the future for a better means of living.
