These women, who live in the same village, are members of a group that's been in existence since February 2000. They maintain good relationships and solidarity. The have repaid more than 10 loans with success. Trade is their main business.

Ms. Yakhara, 55 years (at right in the photo), is the representative. She is married and the mother of seven children, including one boy, who are all in school. Ms. Yakhara runs a business selling fruits and vegetables that she buys wholesale and sells at retail at the village market.

With her loan, she is going to buy baskets of mangoes and bags of lemons, potatoes, onions, and pepper, which she'll resell at a profit. She easily manages to sell her produce despite the competition.

The income received empowers her, strengthens her business, and augments her savings.
