La Felicidad Quiche Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy new designs of women’s clothing.

La Felicidad Quiche Group's story

Women with small businesses, like 27-year-old Graciela, are essential to the health and growth of their families. She is married with a nine-month-old son.

Eight years ago, Graciela opened her women’s clothing business as a street vendor. Although she has a teaching certificate and worked as a teacher for awhile, she prefers to sell clothing. Graciela is requesting her fourth Kiva loan to buy the latest designs of women’s clothing to resell.

Graciela, along with five other Maya “K’iche” ladies, is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “La Felicidad Quiche” in the department/state of Quiche. They strive daily to create a better and more prosperous future for their families. Their businesses range from the sale of clothing, personal care products (catalogue), and traditional clothing to preparing delicious, regional recipes for their food businesses.

They learn a great deal in their monthly educational training about their businesses, their families, themselves and health. In the past few months, the ladies have become keenly aware of the importance of wearing masks, keeping social distance and cleaning surfaces. Every other month, a nurse visits them and offers various screenings like sugar and blood pressure checks. Friendship Bridge calls this combination of loans, education and health care “Microcredit Plus”.

Graciela and her friends really appreciate the partnership between Kiva and Friendship Bridge. Thank you, Kiva lenders!
