A loan helped to buy rice, flour and cooking oil, in order to strengthen her initial capital.

Mapendo Group's story

Sarah is a customer of the microfinance institution Hekima and heads the village group "MAPENDO". She is married, fifty two years old and the mother of ten children, six of whom go to school and the remaining four stay at home due to a lack of resources. Her husband is a pastor.
She sells various food products. She started this business five years ago with starting funds received from her husband. Later she joined up a program with Hekima in order to support her business, during which she gradually made some progress. With this new loan, she will buy rice, flour and cooking oil, which will strengthen her initial capital. The biggest challenge in her business is related to the lack of customers.
She wishes for her children to keep studying and she would like to feed her family. Lastly, she would like to thank Hekima and their partners for the support they give to non-bankable business' owners in this context of global crisis related to the covid-19. The picture displays only the group leader because of covid-19.
