Isatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 40-year-old Isatu from Waterloo branch. She is married with three children between the ages of 10 and 25 years old and they are all attending school. She also has one other dependent who is a relative staying with her.

Isatu runs a retail shop business and sells foodstuffs like palm oil, rice, Pepper, soap, cream, biscuits, Vaseline, sugar, milk, and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past 8 years. Her other source of income come from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during COVID19.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase foodstuffs like rice, palm oil, pepper, milk, sugar, Ovaltine, cream, biscuits, soap and other assorted items to increase her business. Isatu says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and family welfare.

In the future, she would like to establish a larger scale business. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
