Victoria's story

Wonderful community of Kiva!

Juhudi Kilimo is celebrating mothers in Kenya and all other mothers who sacrifice for their children. Meet Victoria (born in 1960), a hard-working farmer from a remote village in the Kitale area of Kenya. She is able to care for her family as the sole breadwinner.

She is not deterred by the difficult life situations that she has been through. Victoria has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business. She never had a formal education and is content with the farming lifestyle.

The Kitale area is favorable for farming, so she is seeking a 100,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to purchase farm inputs (fertilizer and seed) to boost her corn yields and improve her sales to earn enough money to educate her children.

Being a rural mom and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Kitale, is very challenging. However, Victoria feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. She is always working to improve her living conditions. Her biggest dream is to become independent and support her aging parents, secure her childrens' future and buy a home.

Kindly lend to this hard-working mom!
