Sreymao's story

Mrs. Sreymao M. (shown in the photo) and her husband, Mr. Norng Chea, were married in 2000 and have four children: three sons and one daughter. Two of them are in school and the other two are still too young for school. They live on an island in the Mekong River about 15 kilometers from Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. Sreymao has been a silk weaver for fifteen years, a skill she learned from her mother. She sells her finished products to a middleman who then takes them to sell in the Phnom Penh market. Her husband has been a fisherman for twenty years. Sreymao ask for a Kiva loan one time already. She now wants to finance a new business of raising pigs. She will be able to get extra income from selling pigs when they grow big enough. So, she is asking for her second loan of $400 to purchase piglets to raise.
