Sector Puente Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy corn, beans, sugar and other groceries for her store.

Sector Puente Group's story

The four women in the group Sector Puente live in La Ceiba, Santa Catarina Ixtahuacán, Sololá, Guatemala. They range in age from nineteen to 38. All are married with toddlers or school-age children. Two never went to school, and two went through sixth grade. They all speak both Spanish and the Mayan language Quiche, and they all wear traditional clothing.

Two women make and sell clothing, and two have tiny stores selling daily necessities. They are starting their first cycle with the Namaste Creating Prosperity Program. They will have financial literacy classes and advice from a personal business advisor.

Antonia is 33, married and has two children aged six and two years. She never went to school. For eleven years she has had a small store in the front room of her home, selling daily necessities and other things requested by her customers. She will use her portion of the loan to buy corn, beans, sugar and other groceries for her store. Presently, her monthly net profit is 3,711 GTQ, and she hopes to increase that to 4,710 GTQ by the end of this cycle.

Antonia is looking forward to being part of the Namaste program and learning how to grow her business and make more money for her family. Her dream is to have a second store someday so she can leave a store to each of her children.
