A loan helped a Veteran-owned art business grow with new equipment to increase supply.
Art has always been there for me as far as I can remember. Late in my high school years (back in the end of the 90’s), I realized I didn’t have the traditional art skills but I understood the fundamentals. There I found my love for all things digital media and started learning my craft. My love for photography grew when I was deployed twice to Iraq in 2003 and 2004 with the United State Marine Corps. It was there I decided that creating is what I wanted to do for a living. In 2006 I was accepted to Hallmark Institute of Photography where I specialized in Studio Portraiture, graduating top ten percent of the class. For years I stumbled trying to make a niche for myself, but could not anchor myself to any place. That all changed in 2016 when I rented a corner building in historic downtown Williamston Michigan. I knew I needed a studio space but didn't know how I was going to pay for the space so I came up with a retail/studio combination idea. When we first opened, I covered the boutique with women's fashion items and some Michigan themed gifts. As time passed, I noticed the Michigan items kept clearing off my shelves so I decided to use my skills of designing and imagery work to create items for the shop. Now with over 20 years experience and a new found love for retail, I started designing mostly state themed items for my boutique and wholesaling to other retail stores in Michigan.
