Violetas De Chuisuc Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabric, lining, needles and high quality thread.

Violetas De Chuisuc Group's story

Vilma, a 31-year-old married mother of three children over the age of five, was educated as a vocational nurse. She currently works in a healthcare facility as a nurse.

To earn extra income, Vilma embroiders traditional, colorful blouses called “huipiles”. She has been doing this for 15 years and has three employees. All are very talented embroiderers and able to sew all kinds of intricate and colorful stitches. Vilma uses part of her income to send her children to school. At the current time, she has several orders and is requesting her second Kiva loan to buy fabric, lining, needles and many colors of high quality thread.

Vilma is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank "Violetas de Chuisuc" along with nine other Maya K'iche women. The women live in a cool area in the department/state of Quetzaltenango. They look forward to their monthly meetings when they offer each other support, make loan payments and participate in educational training sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services. Topics for the sessions are relevant to their lives and are drawn from four areas: business, health, family, women. The business training helps them effectively manage their prepared food and textile businesses.

Vilma and her friends send their gratitude to KIVA investors from all parts of the world! Thank you to each of you for your kindness and your generosity!
