A loan helped to buy sheep for resale.

Fandema Sitacourou Group's story

Madam Douta has worked with sheep for the past four years. She never attended school, but at 33 years old she is married to a miner and has five children between the ages of 4 and 15. The two eldest attend school.

Madam Douta enjoyed a good reputation withing her group, the Fandema Sitacourou (Between Aid), composed of 19 members. She purchases livestock at the weekly marketplaces and plans to use this loan to purchase more sheep, which she will resell after fattening them up.

Madam Douta has partnered with a microfinance institution in order to better manage her business and to help her husband cover expenses such as healthcare and education for their children.

Madam Douta's dream is to advance within her domain, but this goal is obstructed by cases of theft and sickness of some of her livestock, as well as other difficult setbacks.
