Marlene's story

Marlene is a resident of Abuyog, Leyte. She is married and has three dependents. To earn an income, she runs a sari-sari (variety) store selling basic commodities. She also help in their fishing business. She always ensure that their fishing needs are prepared such as fuel, ropes, styro boxes for storage and other things. She has been in this business for many years. Meanwhile, her husband works as a fisherman to provide for their family’s needs.

Marlene is asking for a loan of PHP 10,000 through Kiva’s field partner CEVI, a microfinance NGO in the Philippines, which she will use to buy soft drinks, liquor, and assorted grocery items for her store.

Marlene dreams of improving this business for her family’s daily expenses.
