A loan helped me to build my dream business.
My story begins in my mother's flower shop at the age of 5, when she introduced me to floral design, for which I quickly became interested in. At the age of 8, I sold my very first flower arrangement from her cooler display, and at that very moment, a 3rd generation florist was born. After graduating high school, I moved from my small town in Chickamauga, Ga to Atlanta, to pursue a serious career in floral design. At 23 I opened my very own flower shop and managed through the recession of 2008. Those 4 years of having a brick and mortar taught me a lot and brought me to realization that I could do more than just everyday flowers. After that experience, I went a different route by focusing on weddings and weekly floral services for home and businesses, with the eventual dream of having my own venue. Over the next 7 years, and after a lot of saving, I finally made the leap and purchased an amazing property to make that dream a reality. Soon after purchasing though, life through a curb ball and I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and without insurance. After a few months of recovery, I started back to work to catch up on lost revenue, while trying to maintain the recently purchased property as well. Months went by and I finally got to point of taking my next steps when Covid came along. Just like the rest of the world, everything stopped, resulting in me starting all over again. With two huge hurdles so close to each other, I have had to use most of my savings stay afloat and now the dream of opening a venue is quickly becoming a seemingly unattainable one.
