Saing's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to build a household latrine and buy its necessities.

Saing's story

Saing is 54 years old and married and has three children. She lives in the Kaoh Thum district, Kandal province. Saing and her husband work together at the rice field to ensure an abundant harvest. Also, they raise poultry and grow vegetables to supplement their main income. To grow rice seeds, Saing and her family work hard, including purchasing rice seeds from gardening or farmers supply store, choosing planting locations, gathering at least 1 to 2 ounces (28.5 to 56.5 g) of rice seeds to sow, planting the rice seeds throughout the soil, during the fall or spring season, waiting for the rice grains to mature, and harvesting.

Since she doesn't have a safe latrine for use at home, she is unable to help her family members improve their sanitation and personal hygiene. Therefore she has requested a loan of USD 2,000 to build a household latrine and buy its necessaries. The water loan program offered by HKL with a special interest rate has helped to encourage Saing to focus on ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of her family and protect the environment.
