Flores De Alotenango Group's story

The two women in the group Flores de Alotenango live in the town of San Juan Alotenango, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. They both have had businesses selling Omnilife alternative medicine products, cosmetics, and a variety of Mexican products that they traveled to the Mexican border to buy. In this time of Covid-19 their businesses have been severely impacted. One has added different kinds of medicine to her stock and the other has started selling bread. Both women are looking forward to another month of financial literacy classes and more monthly personal sessions with a business advisor. They believe that their work with Namaste has allowed them to improve their businesses and has kept them going during this difficult time. Despite their difficulties, both women repaid their previous loans.

Irma Antonieta is 61 years old and divorced with grown children. She has a 6th grade education. She started her business 16 years ago in order to be financially independent. This is her fourth loan with the Namaste Creating Prosperity Program. She will use her loan to buy more medicines.

When she started with Namaste she had a monthly net profit of 2,787 Guatemalan Quetzales ($362). When she started the previous loan her monthly net profit was Q5,753 ($747). At the end of the loan her net profit was only Q995 ($129) due to Covid-19. She is hoping to increase that to Q1,370 ($178) by the end of this cycle.
