Belinda's story

Belinda is 41 years old from Malba village, Maprik District, East Sepik Province. She is permanently residing in Igam block, Lae Morobe Province since 2015. It took 20 minutes to drive from the main city. She’s married to a person from the same area. Belinda is a literate woman, a business-minded person who engages in the poultry business, she started the business from her husband's salary. After a year, she built a chicken shed and a table market and has operated for five years.

With the chicken project, she had been operating for the last five years raising chickens to five weeks old and sell out at the local price of PGK 35/chicken. At the local community where she resides, the sale of chicken was in high demand because the area was quite a distance to the main shopping centers; thus to make it easier for the local communities as well as saving cost and time, they sell locally their fresh produces from the garden. With the help of her supportive husband, she manages to extend the poultry fence that she orders for new baby chicks. Thus she is seeking fund assistance to purchase new baby chicks and material for the poultry business.
