Mwenda Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock up on cornmeal, cassava flour, and charcoal to produce the local drink to sell.

Mwenda Group's story

Ms. Colette is a client of the microfinance institution Hekima and presides over the village group named “MWENDA”. She is married, 47 years old, and the mother of seven children, who are all in school. Her husband is doctor.

A vendor of the local drink, she started this enterprise fifteen years ago with startup funding from her husband. Later on, she joined the Hekima program for supporting her enterprise and has worked progressively in it.

With this new loan, she will stock up on cornmeal, cassava flour, and charcoal to make the local drink for bolstering her initial capital. The challenge in her business is when the drink comes out poorly.

She would like her children to continue in school. So, she wishes to thank Hekima and its partners for supporting business owners lacking cash during this global crisis tied to Covid-19. The photo shows only the group leader because of Covid-19.
