Thanh Yen 28 Group's story

Thanh is a 44-year-old Thai ethnic woman who has two adult children and lives in a small house in a remote village of Dien Bien province where agriculture is the main income-generating activity of the locals. She is the woman wearing a yellow shirt the picture.

Everyday, she works very hard at her farm with several activities such as growing rice and corn and raising chickens and cows. This is the 10th time she has taken out a loan from the Anh Chi Em program after successfully repaying the previous nine loans. Her plan is to use that loan to buy a cow for raising and animal feed for cows and chickens. Thanh hopes with this continued support of the program in terms of both loan and agricultural technology, her investment will be successful and bring her good income, which she plans to use to cover her family's expenses. Thanh stands first from the far right in the picture.
