Elizabeth's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to grow her business beyond groceries to packed food given that food is in high demand in the face of the global pandemic restricting choices to essentials including food.

Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth is a 22-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband in the Machinga district in Malawi. She runs her own business, selling groceries and toiletries. Elizabeth is now requesting a Kiva loan in order to grow her business beyond groceries to packed food given that food is in high demand in the face of the global pandemic restricting choices to essentials including food. She plans to use the profit she earns to support herself, her family and also to reach out to the vulnerable via charity work.

Elizabeth will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering 2.5 hours weekly as a Learner Guide, leading sessions on sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, gender and power dynamics, and personal choices at her local primary school and in her community.
