Ana Lucia's story

Ana is a humble country woman, who lives in a community called La Cofradía with her family. Her family is mostly dedicated to agriculture and livestock, in addition to working long hours working as day laborers. They alternate these two source of income in order to support their household.

Ana wakes up very early every day to milk the cows; feed the pigs, guinea pigs, and hens, and to make breakfast for her family. Then, she goes to work harvesting the closest crops. During the afternoon, her work does not stop, since she has to clean the pig pen and other animal cages. She does all of this work with a lot of love, since she loves caring for the animals.

Because of the crisis she is going through, she had to sell many of her pigs in order to sustain her family during the months when she could not work as a day laborer. Because of this, she is requesting a loan from Kiva, since she wants to invest in buying pigs, animal feed, and other small animals. This will enable her to have a second source of income for her family.
