Birds's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped us to complete our CEA greenhouse and provide high quality, fresh, local produce to our community!
Growing up in the suburban jungles of NJ, I was rarely exposed to the world outside of this environment which led me to develop an insatiable curiosity of the world beyond. I kicked this journey off by joining the US Marine Corps at 19 which showed me just what a human being is capable of achieving. This was followed by 2 years of backpacking around the world. My favorite method of travel was to volunteer on local farms in exchange for getting to stay with the local farmers families and get the true cultural experience of that particular location. I’ve done everything from picking coffee in Guatemala to sheering sheep in New Zealand! It was from these experiences that I developed a passion for agriculture, learning how food is produced and where it all comes from. I was also overweight and borderline diabetic in my youth which gave me an appreciation for the quality of our food and how proper nutrition can not only keep us healthy but also reverse chronic diseases that many suffer from. Now that I have my 7 acre farm, I am looking forward to being a part of the solutions to solve many of our current social problems. Once we are fully up and running, I wish to open my farm to internships to train additional farmers in starting small, local, pesticide free farms. It was during my many adventures that I met my lovely wife and we now have 3 wonderful children, a four year old boy, and 18 month old twins (boy and girl). Also living on the property are my mother and my younger sister with her husband and two young children. Now that it is summer, we all enjoy spending time at the farm picking blueberries and strawberries!
