Esperanza Y Progreso Grupo 8 Group's story

Gricelda started working very young. She is a mother of 2 children and lives in a batey (sugar worker's town) in the province of San Pedro de Macorís in the Dominican Republic. Bateyes are very poor communities consisting mostly of immigrants from Haiti.

Gricelda earns a living from selling clothing and underwear, such as skirts, dresses, blouses, pants, bras, panties, boxers and pajamas among other. Clothing sale is a very common business in bateyes. Gricelda says she has always had good customers, although sometimes she has to deal with people who buy on credit and refuse to pay later. Gricelda's main customers are people from the community, neighbors and family members.

Gricelda needs your help in order to buy new goods and stock up her business. Thank you for your contribution to Esperanza y Progreso Grupo 8.
