A loan helped to purchase cows, and to dig a pond so that he doesn't have to travel for water.

Naren's story

Naren, age 41, is married and has three children who are attending school. He lives with his family in the area of Kien Svay district, in Kandal province. Being a responsible father, Naren works hard every day to generate income so that he can cover his daily expenses and send his children to school.

Naren works as a mobile construction worker and travels around the country with his team, providing this service. His wife is an housewife and depends on Naren's income. He can earn a net income of only 8 USD per day and works more than eight hours everyday to earn a living.

Naren has applied for a loan in the amount of 2,000 USD to purchase cows and dig a pond. With this loan support, he will have enough funds to purchase cows and feed for raising them to sell at the market. He also can pay for digging a pond and he is hoping that he won’t face a water shortage in the future nor have to spend much time collecting water from far-distant areas anymore.

He expresses his thanks to all Kiva lenders for showing their interest in poor people like him to improve sanitation and safe drinking.
