Melquiades Alfredo's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy materials such as thread, needles, interfacing for sewing, cloth, etc. to make clothes.

Melquiades Alfredo's story

Melquiades Alfredo is 67 years old. He is widowed and has 3 adult children. He lives with two of his children and two grandchildren in the district of Jipijapa which is known as the Queen of Coffee. The people of Jipijapa are very friendly and hardworking, but they have suffered the impact of the difficult pandemic caused by COVID-19.

Melquiades Alfredo is a hardworking man and still takes care of his children. For the last 40 years he has made a living as a tailor. He rents a location in the center of town. He makes pants, shirts, ties, etc. Before the pandemic, his tailor orders provided good income. At the beginning of the season he altered 200 pieces of clothing/uniforms for classes, but now because of the pandemic, the classes are virtual. This caused him to generate less income.

In short time after the quarantine, Melquiades had to close his business because he was an at-risk person and he didn't want to become ill. A few weeks ago, he restarted his business activities. Even though his income is not the same as before, at least he has enough to cover his expenses.

Melquiades Alfredo will invest the loan that he is awarded by the foundation in the purchase of the materials for making clothing such as thread, needs, interfacing for sewing, cloth, etc. His dream is to own his own locale so that he doesn't have to rent.
