A loan helped me to expand my business in order to offer food and products to more consumers.
I became a single mother at age 15. This was one of the scariest times of my life. During my senior year of High School. My son was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. The doctors did not think he would ever walk. I knew deep down that one day he would get the opportunity. I remember being told within the first week of his life that he would not live, yet he just celebrated his 16th birthday earlier this month. He underwent his first surgery during my Freshman year of college. The surgery was a success. I was able to find a job in my field, until I felt a pull to go back to school. I went on to Graduate School and obtained a Master’s Degree in Management. I wanted my son to see the importance of not letting obstacles stand in his way. I wanted him to see that he could do anything he put his heart to. Within the last year and a half my son’s walking began to decline. He ended up having a very extensive surgery in March. The doctors removed bone from his femur and repositioned his kneecaps. Without this procedure his knees would continue to permanently bend and eventually he would no longer have the ability to walk. He has made drastic improvements since his surgery, he is now able to take steps for the first time with his legs straight. I watched my son push through obstacles that I never imagined. I know I owe it to God, myself, my son and those who need me to take my business to the next level. My passion for my food business comes from my passion for cooking creative foods. Believe it or not I’ve been cooking since age 4. I love creating not only delicious but affordable meals. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to give back in so many ways. I absolutely love serving. My vision for my business alsocame from being a young Mother that wasn’t always in a position to afford healthy food options. There were countless times our meals consisted of cheeseburgers from McDonalds, Ramen Noodles and Sugary Drinks. I’ve learned so much about food over the years and my desire is for everyone to be able to enjoy healthier options without their finances being an issue. In addition, to sharing the benefits of eating certain foods. My most recent passion for business came from the tragic loss of one of my dear friends. She was one of the first people to believe in me. Everyday she pushed me closer to my business goals and life goals. She believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. As I know she looks down on me, I want her to see the seeds she’s planted in my life. I’m ready to soar.
