Kadiatu's Best Female Farmers Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for improved seed, organic inputs and tractor rental, which will allow these farmers to escape subsistence by farming a larger area with a higher yield.

Kadiatu's Best Female Farmers Group's story

Kadaitu (first on the left), featured borrower of Kadiatu's Best Female Farmers, would like to sincerely thank Kiva lenders for their first loan. It enabled group members to break free from local lenders who were charging them nearly 100% interest, and, as a result, all group members have fully recovered their businesses, have repaid their first loan and are successfully farming again.

The group is now seeking a second loan to further expand their farms. The global COVID-19 pandemic is causing food shortages in some areas of Sierra Leone, especially as imported rice becomes more scarce. A second Kiva loan will not only further empower these women, it will enable them to take advantage of the current market for rice and enhance food access in Sierra Leone at a time when this is badly needed.

Profits will be used to ensure all member's children go to school and will also be used by the group to create a support fund for young female farmers.
