Umar's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved inputs to get a good harvest and enhanced living standards.

Umar's story

Umar, 28 years of age, is single and lives with his family in an ordinary mud house in a small village in Kaduna state. In his community, farming is the primary occupation, and like many diligent smallholders, Umar dreams of expanding his farm business. Lacking access to quality inputs, it has become difficult for farmers like Umar to achieve high yields to make a higher income.

Luckily, as a Babban Gona member and with this loan, Umar will be provided with higher yielding seeds that are locally adapted and widely accepted in his community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. Umar will be able to optimize and attain yields of up to twice the national average in Nigeria. With lenders' support to grow his farming business, Umar is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. He plans to use the profits from this season’s harvest to build a better house for his family.
