Azael's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped cultivate cocoyam to support his family during Covid-19 pandemic.

Azael's story

Azael lives in the rural community of Canglon. It is a roadside town on the Panamerican highway, located in East Panama. It is six hours away from Panama City.

He is an industrious and hardworking Panamanian who has inherited his passion for agriculture from his parents, who have cultivated vegetables for decades in the province of Darien.

Azael started his cocoyam (similar to potatoes) production six years ago, improving his farming techniques and sales little by little year after year.

His parents have given him a small lot so he can cultivate cocoyam and invest in his future.

Azael is asking for a $3,000 loan to expand his cocoyam production, by buying seeds, hiring locals to clear the field and buying farming equipment.

Azael's mother took out a loan and paid it back punctually. This inspired him to invest in his agriculture to support himself and his family.

Thanks for helping Azael’s first Kiva loan and for investing in his future!
