Florence's story

I grew up in Haiti where my dad had a garment factory. I started working with my Dad after school and during the summer since I was 7 years old. There, I’ve learn and obtained almost all the skills set that I’m still utilizing today. After high school, my dad sent me to the US to go to fashion institute of technology. After, the 1st year, my dad could not afford to pay for my school tuition because I was a non-resident. But I was determined to finish college. As a result, I decided to work full time M-F 9-5 and go to school full time in the evening 6pm10pm and also, worked another job part – time Saturday and Sunday 9am-9pm. I did that for 7 long years. I obtained 2 associates degrees, 1 bachelor degree and 2 certificates. After years working in the fashion industry, underpaid, unseen, unappreciated and discriminated against, I decided to open my own business. I always had a passion for swimwear so that why I opening my own swimwear company.
