March 29Th Group's story

The "29 D. Marzo" (March 29th) communal bank is beginning its first loan cycle. It is maD. up of 8 members, working in traD., services, and the sale of vegetables and other things. All of the members are responsible, hard-working people who know and trust one another. Juan is the president of the group. He is married with two young children, and works as a driver with a radio taxi company. With the loan he will make repairs and improvements to his car so that he can keep working without having any more mechanical problems. He has been doing this work for many years. He is very hard-working and responsible, which is why he was chosen as president of the communal bank. Liliam, the secretary of the communal bank, is married with three school-age children. She sells groceries. With the loan she will buy more stock for her business, enabling her to increase her income and her working capital. Josefa is the treasurer of the group. She has two school-age children. She also sells groceries and will use the loan to buy more stock for her business, thereby increasing her income and her quality of life, and giving her more working capital. All the members of the group are grateful to the field partner Emprender, and to Kiva, for the confidence they have shown in them by granting this loan.
