Dorys Cristina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pork and plantains for preparing food.

Dorys Cristina's story

Dorys Cristina is 66 years old and is a widow. She has five children, all grown and independent. Two of them live at home. They live in Jaramijó, a town of fisherman that bases its economy on fishing, industry, and tourism. On April 16, 2016, it suffered an earthquake and now, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the town is paralyzed in its infrastructure and business recovery.

Dorys Cristina works making cheese curds from her home. She sells them every day, and on Saturday and Sunday, she makes roast pork and pork majada (a traditional mashed plantain dish.) In her free time, she sells Avon products from catalogs (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and women's accessories.) She leaves these products on credit and charges weekly. The public health crisis was very difficult for her at first because she wasn't able to make her sales, but now, little by little, her business is picking up.

With this new loan, she will buy pork and plantains for preparing foods. Her dream is for her family to have good health and for her business to continue growing.
