A loan helped To buy and insure a dairy cow.

Jeremiah's story

Jeremiah is 57 years old and married with five children, all except one of whom have completed school. Jeremiah has been practicing mixed farming in Murang'a town in central Kenya. He has been in this business for thirty years and has three employees. His main products are milk, coffee and fruit which he sells to the local market. Jeremiah is also a businessman and earns some income from his agrovet (agricultural-veterinary) shop. Jeremiah has requested this loan from Juhudi Kilimo for KES 63,600 to purchase and insure a dairy cow. This loan will enable him to acquire a good dairy cow that will produce more milk and earn him more income. His biggest challenge is lack of a big enough market for his milk, and a poor road network that leads to delays in transportation of his perishable goods. In future, Jeremiah intends to improve his dairy breed to pure-bred cattle that will increase his milk output. He says that “Through Juhudi Kilimo, the future is bright and income generation will be guaranteed.”
