Carlos Julio's story

Carlos Julio is married and lives in Manta. The residents of this area are enterprising people who grow corn, peanuts, cassava, and other crops. They also sell cattle and products from the sea.

Carlos has been recycling copper, aluminum, and old batteries for the past five years. He travels to different places to buy recyclable materials. His wife helps with the business. During the quarantine that was mandated because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Carlos was not able to continue his work. His financial situation got complicated, but he and his wife were able to move forward with a small amount of savings.

With the loan from Fundación ESPOIR, Carlos will invest in the purchase of recyclable materials such as old batteries, copper, aluminum, and other items. Carlos Julio dreams of having his own recycling shop, supporting his household finances, and remaining healthy so that he can continue his work.
