A loan helped to build a household latrine and buy necessary related items.

Hei's story

Hei is 28 years old and a construction worker from a rural village in Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province. She lives with her husband, who is also a construction worker, and her three single children are attending school. To take care of their needs, she is involved in the construction of building in the community. As construction is the major source of the family’s income, Hei has been doing this for more five years with constant support from her husband.

Since she doesn't have a safe latrine for use at home, she is unable to help her family members improve their sanitation and personal hygiene. For this reason, she has requested a loan of KHR 6,000,000 to build a household latrine and buy necessary related items. Thanks to the water loan program offered by HKL with a special interest rate, she is encouraged to focus on healthy living conditions, safeguard the health of her family and protect the environment.
