Manos Juntas Rumichaca Alta Group's story

Vilma, 32, lives with a partner and has 4 children. She is a native of the city of Urubamba, in the Cusco department. Vilma is the founder of the communal bank "Manos Juntas D. This time they chose me as the representative of the bank to give my testimony of my principal economic activity." Vilma's main economic activity is making chicha D. jora (a traditional Peruvian beverage maD. from roasted corn.) She has a contract with Señora Teresa to whom she sells the jora. She also makes woolen jackets to order for her customers. Vilma needs a loan to buy corn and firewood. She has already worked for 2 years in this business, and it is going very well. Vilma belongs to the communal bank because she wants to learn how to be responsible with money and to invest well in her business. The majority of the other members are merchants, for example: some are engaged in raising young livestock, others sell drinks, food, chicha D. jora, jackets, and other members proviD. services, such as: artists, employees of the municipality of Urubamba, employees of the Hotel Inti Quilla, etc. The city of Urubamba is located an hour and 10 minutes from the city of Cusco.
