A loan helped to buy cattle for resale.

Mbogga Yiff Group's story

Mr Cory is the leader of the MFI Mbogga, which in the Serere language means "to have the same opinion". This loan is for all the members in the group, which comprises 8 men. Their business is essentially animal husbandry, including sheep, cattle and goats.

Mr Cory is a 64 year old Senegalese breeder. He is married and has 4 children between the ages of 7 and 20 who are all schooled. He has been working in this business for over 30 years. He usually stocks up at the regional market in his village and later resells the livestock for cash at the same market.

He plans to use the money from the loan to buy more cattle, animal feed and vaccines to increase his income. The profits from his sales will enable him to take care of his family's expenses, particularly his children's schooling, medical expenses and clothing. Significant barriers in his business include the loss of his cattle during grazing, their death, as well as poor sales.

Cory's wish for the future is to fence off a large area for his cattle in order to minimize the risks of loss and increase his financial independence. This will allow him to better meet the needs of his family.
