Luchadoras De Las Delicias Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy baby chicks and a variety of clothing to resell.

Luchadoras De Las Delicias Group's story

Guatemalan women who live in rural areas and have little or no formal education have been resourceful and innovative as they find solutions to poverty. Francisca, a married 43-year-old mother of 4 children (13-27) and grandmother of 3, raises animals and sells clothing. She is well known and popular in her neighborhood in the department/state of Quetzaltenango. Francisca is requesting her 2nd Kiva loan to buy baby chicks and a variety of clothing to resell.

Francisca, along with 7 other ladies, are members of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Luchadoras de las Delicias”. The women have clothing, prepared food businesses and sell tortillas, fruits and vegetables. They benefit greatly from their monthly educational training sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services. Topics for the trainings are relevant to their lives and based on 4 areas: health, family, women, business. Francisca shares that she has been especially interested about learning about the dangers of over-indebtedness. In the past few months, the women have learned about Covid19 and the preventive measures that they can utilize like wearing masks, cleaning surfaces and keeping physical distance. Since the public health care system in Guatemala is almost non-existent, these ladies are fortunate to have a visit from a traveling nurse every other month.

Kiva investors, partnering with Friendship Bridge, are greatly appreciated. Thank you to each of you!
