Grace's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy high-quality farm supplies such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizer to boost the quality of her produce, earn more profits, and elevate her living standards.

Grace's story

Grace is a woman with an unending desire to achieve. She hails from a remote village in the Chuka area of Kenya, where farming is the primary economic activity. Grace has never shifted her attention away from farming and has always worked hard to meet her goals. She enjoys generating an income by selling her harvest, which makes her feel accomplished. However, Grace finds the cost of farming supplies very high.

The main impediment to the development of small farms in Kenya is lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support small farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival. Grace has requested this loan to buy farm supplies such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizer to boost the quality of her produce, earn more profits, and elevate her living standards. This loan gives her an opportunity that she has never had before. Her irregular income and lack of security were the main drawbacks preventing her from accessing a loan from commercial banks. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that have been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
