Total loan: $325

Kaduna, KD, Nigeria / Agriculture

Hannatu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved inputs in order to get a good harvest and enhance her living standards.

Hannatu's story

Hannatu is a hardworking farmer who lives with her family in an ordinary mud house in a small village in Kaduna state. In her community, farming is the primary occupation, and like many diligent smallholders, Hannatu dreams of expanding her farm business.

Due to poor farming practices, it has become difficult for farmers like Hannatu to achieve high yields so as to make higher income.

Luckily, as a Babban Gona member, Hannatu will, because of this loan, be provided with higher yielding seeds that are locally adapted, and are widely accepted in her local community. Hannatu will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of her field assessment. This will enable Hannatu to optimize her yield thereby attaining yields of up to two times the national average in Nigeria.

With lenders support to grow her farming business, Hannatu is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. Hannatu plans to use the profits from this season’s harvest to pay for her children’s school fees.
