but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved inputs in order to get a good harvest and enhance their living standards.

Adamu's story

Adamu is a 38-year-old hardworking maize farmer who lives in a modest mud house with his wife and 2 children in a small village in Kaduna state. Adamu is returning to work with Babban Gona as he will, thanks to this loan, be provided with higher yielding seeds, both locally adapted and widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable him to optimize his yield, which could attain up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare, twice the national average in Nigeria. This will not only increase his earnings to 2.8 times the national average but also ensures that he can continue providing for his family.

Adamu will use the income generated from his maize sales this season to build a better house for his family. He is confident that with Babban Gona he will overcome poverty, securing a strong future for generations to come.
