Lady Vanessa's story

Lady Vanessa is a 32-year-old single mother with two children, ages 12 and 7. She lives at her parents’ house in Río Chico, which is in the sector of Balsita (located in Portoviejo-Manabí). Most of the residents from this area cultivate and sell coconuts. They are hardworking and friendly people.

Lady Vanessa is a hardworking and responsible woman who always looks for ways to support her family. For the past several years and with the help of her parents, she has been raising chickens and selling them to local stores. Due to the quarantine that was mandated by the government because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she was not able to sell her products. With great caution, she elected to sell the chickens she had in her coops and deliver them door to door. She sold them live or butchered (by the pound) to neighbors who requested them.

With money from the loan issued by Fundación ESPOIR, Lady Vanessa will invest in the purchase of chickens, vaccines, and balanced feed so that she can continue raising her animals. As a result, she will be able to continue her business and sustain her household.

Lady Vanessa dreams of moving forward, staying healthy so that she can work, and seeing that her parents lack nothing.
