Lydiah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy good fertilizer and good quality seeds to help a single mom increase production so she can use the increased profit to support her children.

Lydiah's story

Lydiah (pictured alongside her child) is a 50-year-old single mom living in Nyahururu, a town whose surroundings have vast agricultural potential with numerous small farms and also vast agricultural enterprises. She has farmed for the past sixteen years enabling her to be able to support her family.

Although this humble and industrious woman makes a profit, she faces the challenge of not being able to produce enough to meet the readily available market. Therefore, she is seeking funds from Kiva lenders to buy farm inputs, such as good fertilizer and good quality seeds. Through this loan, Lydiah should be able to double her production and this will translate into increased income.

One objective that Juhudi Kilimo aims at fulfilling is increasing the ease of accessing farm inputs and income-generating assets for farmers. Through the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides have become more accessible to its members.

Lydiah is very optimistic and believes this loan will change her life completely. She will use the profits to support her aging mother and also save some for future farm expansion. Kindly lend to this visionary woman during this tough economic recession.
