Sonhong's story

Sonhong, aged 22, lives with his family in the area of Lvea Aem district, Kandal province. He has one lovely child that is attending a local school and is depends on his income. To fulfill the needs of his family members, he has to work strongly everyday in his blacksmith career. He has support from his wife who is working in an agriculture business to earn to live. With their hard effort, Sonhong and his wife can earn approximately USD 8 per day which will has to cover their expenses for food, clothes and for their child's school allowance.

Since Sonhong does not have a safe latrine for use at home, he is unable to help his family members improve their sanitation and personal hygiene. For this particular reason, he has requested a loan of KHR 8,000,000 to build a household latrine. The water loan program offered by HKL with a special interest rate, has helped to encourage Sonhong to focus on ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of his family and protect the environment.
