Adamu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved farming inputs that will increase his farm's yield.

Adamu's story

Adamu is a hardworking 49-year-old maize farmer who lives in a modest mud house with his wife and more than 4 children in a small village in Kaduna state. Prior to joining Babban Gona, Adamu was only able to feed his family 2 meals a day as the income realized from his farming business was low.

With this loan now that he is a Babban Gona member, Adamu will be provided with higher yielding seeds that are locally adapted, and are widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment.

This will enable Adamu to optimize his yield, where he can attain yields of up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare; 2 times the national average in Nigeria. This will not only increase his income earnings 2.8 times the national average but also ensures that Adamu can continue to provide for his family.

Adamu will use the income generated from his maize sales this season to build a better house for his family. Adamu is confident that with Babban Gona he will overcome poverty and secure a strong future for generations to come.
